Snowing in Yokohama

It’s a second time we saw snowing after the beginning of the year on 1st Jan.

I know it’s a little of snowing, but in Tokyo or Yokohama it’s called much snowing as it’s giving much impact on traffic and commuters already. Some highways were closed and trains are delaying.

My older brother, as usual went to the office in Tokyo, so we assume he would not come back home tonight.

I’m on my fifth term from February, and it’s a last term of annual year for me.

By the way, there is a rugby match Canon of Japan vs. Blues of New Zealand. And we will be there on Saturday.

Unfortunately, François “Faf” de Klerk and Jessie Kriel of Canon had injuries and went back to RSA. I hope they will heal soon for their test match in July, and also strongly hope them to come back to the field with full strength as soon as possible. There is an obvious difference between having them or not in the field. A speed and how a game goes or moves.

Also one more RSA player Kwagga Smith got injury and undergone surgery.
What we as rugby fans in Japan can do would be humbly waiting for their return.

The film Elvis

(notice there is Austin Butler within the list)

On Sunday, we went to movies. I really wanted to watch “Elvis” in theaters, as there must be great sound effects, also in theaters there is no distraction.

These days it’s hard to focus on movies at home, streaming is convenient but it also allows too much control, skip, fast forward, pause and stop watching in the middle. I have many movies in “continue watching”.

The film was 2 hours 39 minutes long but felt not long, there was no unnecessary scene, all of them explained or described something important.

It was made understandable, songs were great, and replication of stage performance were more than imagined.

All songs were the original ones, the actor was lip syncing but looked like he was actually singing. From some point I started looking at him as Elvis.

And Tom Hanks was invisible, he was a big greedy manager of King of Rock and Roll. I became hate him.

I don’t know if Tom Hanks has ever acted such self-centered, tricky, exploiting, and obsessed with moneymaking character.

I’ve read wiki, and learned the life of Elvis for some extent. After watching it it made it more sad story. Sad.

We listened to “If I can dream” after the movie. It’s simply overwhelming.

My partner has never listened to Elvis until he watch the film, now he became a big fan of Elvis, he is listening “If I can dream” and “Unchained melody” every night.

Hope I can go theaters again, good movies have many aspects and full of unspoken contexts, I like watching the same movie again and again, it’ll never be faded.

Earthquake and a cable car

We don’t know when earthquake will hit us.

Last night, at around 23:00 there was earthquake an intensity of 5.

I went to bed at 22:00 so probably right after I fell sleep the earthquake woke me up.

Fortunately there was no damage and we all back to sleep.

During a daytime, I was cruising around Minatomirai Yokohama looking for a present for my friend in Hachijo Jima island.

Day out is good way to recharge, and relief eyes fatigue after hours of study.

I saw a cable car that newly installed from Sakuragicho station to Worldporters shopping mall.

Far side is Sakuragicho station
Arrive at Worldpoeters shopping mall

Its distance is six hundred meters, yet scenery from the cable car is unique and enjoyable, it’s passing by an amusement park, traveling above a canal, in the canal there is an amphibious vehicle visible.

A tourist bus in the canal

I could have fun shopping for my friend, bought “Hawaiian Airline” T-shirts and 2022 calendar for my friend.

Hawaii is the place we first met 17 years ago. so I always choose something related Hawaii to cherish the days.

There are earthquake reports from many different regions daily basis.

And there are so many disaster reports from places all over the world.

Basically there is nothing we can do. We can’t stop or escape.

Therefore it would be better spend the given time on things we really want to do, as much as possible.

Paddle surfing

Last time when I went to Yamashita park for jogging, I saw people enjoying paddle surfing by the sea of Rinko park.

It looked fun.

This morning I went Yamashita park again, by train.

Checked GUNDAM first, it was there standing quietly. Looked cool.

GUNDAM is so attractive.

Then jogged to Rinko park, and found people on surf boards, paddling.

SUP : standup paddle surfing

I’ve seen this in Hawaii before.

Besides surfing there are several kinds, like paddle surfing, kite surfing, wakeboarding, and bodyboarding.

Back then in Hawaii, I was living in a dormitory.

And one of dorm mates who was from Sweden, a 190cm tall guy was doing kite surfing.

One day he broke his nose.

I thought like, with speed more serious injuries, paddle surfing will be a safer option.

And wanted to try someday.

With the current situation, it maybe a few years later, once Covid settles and when I finally visit Hawaii.

Or might be a chance to try at Yokohama harbor.

a jog by train.

It’s Saturday, and felt like going somewhere for a jog.

So, I took a train headed to Motomachi Chukagai station.

It’s a terminal of Minato-Mirai line.

There I saw a full scale GUNDAM from famous animation.

And jogged from Yamashita park, passed by Akarenga, Minato-Mirai area and arrived at Rinko park.

From GUNDAM factory to Chuo-Ichiba
6km from GUNDAM to my neighbor.

It was really a nice jog. I’m glad did try this.

I’d go tomorrow again, maybe a bit earlier then should be less people.

The smell of ocean at Yamashita park, it was something I’ve been longing for the past few years, since traveling to overseas is an impossible desire.

Actually there are many things available in neighborhoods I’d find more places to jog.

Have a safe and wonderful weekend!

Dessin (drawing)

Now, with Covid there is some time to spare on my hand that allowed me to take an art class.

Left done by a teacher, right me.

Even if it’s in monotone, it looks like an apple. Drawing done by a teacher.

She has finished this within a few minutes.

ăĄă‚ƒă‚“ăšæž—æȘŽđŸŽ

These days, being at home all weekdays staring at screens on mobile and pc.

So that, taking a lesson and focusing on dessin an hour was really a good change.

I’ve never looked at an apple with so much effort. And my right arm tired from holding a pencil. Interesting experience.

It might be a common-knowledge.

But recently I heard a story for the first time, it was about three kinds to be recommended as a hobby.

One– physical activities.

Two– creative activities.

Three– learning.

Or other expressions I’ve seen were acquiring skills or making money etc.

E.g. Drawing is a creative work. writing blog is a creative work. Jogging is a physical activity and programming is a learning.

How about you? in good balance?

I hope so!

Living with Covid.

Finally my mother received her 1st Covid shot today.

I can never thank enough to people who developed the vaccine, delivered to the clinic, and doctor and nurse to gave a shot.

A clinic where my mom usually visits for prescription drugs, the place started to support a vaccination for people aged 65 or older living nearby.

Also near future vaccination will be extended to the rest of population.

COVID-19 vaccine

found a white cat was hanging around the neighborhood.

I called and called but never went through.

and it’s been fully booked again.

It says “it’s closed 甂äș†â€œ.

A booking system also does not work.

There is no “○ available” days at all.
Tried click on dates, it says “that date is not available”.

This is the current situation, I did this for my mother as she can’t do this by herself it’s too complicated.

It’s been a year, so not much difference if it to be extended a few more months. We’ll be patient.

One door closes another door opens

2021 æšȘ攜 æĄœ

Joining is always fun.

For example, joining to a new community or a company or a class, but when a change occurs and have to leave for move on, a farewell moment comes.

Covid-19 had changed many things, and how to earn a livelihood is one of them.

I was working for two different clients.

Client A : Client B = 70 : 30

A san notified me a contract change in last Nov. He told me a need for a serious cost reduction to survive.

for that, now I know how fortunate I was.

As later found out that for my client it’s been long and hard time.

He has been trying as much as possible to secure the job (from his clients) for his regular employees and contractors including myself.

I am not able to live only with a income from B san.

Therefore I started to do job hunting again. Since 2018.

I found a new job in Feb. It was a full time contract, no other option. I needed to terminate a contract with B san as well, because now two jobs are too much to handle.

Past two months, I did both a full time job and an accounting support job for client B san at night or during weekends.

That was hard, and finally a successor joined yesterday!!!

I’ve already delivered back PC and mobile in advance, that is a load off my mind.

now I am properly able to hand over all to her.

Now I’m at a new door and door is opening and half of my body already in the room but feel like either one of my leg still in the previous room.

In a week or so it’ll be fully settled and I’m in a new room.
