Looking up the sky

Think of his thought, is he happy? Does he want to go outside?

I hope he is happy being inside with us, as much as we are happy and loving him.

If I can have him wear a escape-free harness then I can take him walks. But if he just jumps out, he will be caught (collected?) by someone again, and end up in the shelter.

Japan is safe, however not safe and relaxing place for stray cats. There are life threatning dangers outside. Cars, trains and so on.

If we had a large garden, we’d happily release him. He will be running around and play with buttetflies and birds.

Anyway he is sleeping most of the time, I think (want to think) he is leading a happy life.

He is on MacBook

A cat litterbox

Our youngest cat he came here last December, one day all of a sudden peed in a bathtub.

I thought he was confused or so. he is six months old now.

Anyway we closed a door, we usually keep it open to release humidity after a bath.

Then a few days later he used a washbasin as his litterbox.

It’s less issue as it can be cleaned easily, but something is not okay for him therefore I needed to think about cause.

He was fine until recently, using a regular cat litterboxes with other two cats.

In a sunroom, three cats are napping

We didn’t change a sand or its layout, keep those clean as much as possible.

What’s wrong?

We closed a washroom’s door as well.

Then, he started meowing when he wants to go to a bathroom.

I open the door, he jumps in to the washroom bowl and pee or poop.

Mom gave me a spare box. And I placed it right next to a washroom room.

He used it several times only when the door is closed, if we are there for brushing teeth, washing hands, he’ll jump in and pee or so, it’s quick and he looks like needing it immediately, really hard to stop or move him to his restroom.

The first option is a washroom, secondary is a kitchen sink, then a litterbox.

My concern is that he is holding himself until we open the door, that is not okay. He may become sick.

Thanks to Google, there are so many results for search keywords “cat” “toilet” “washbasin” “kitchen”.

It’s such a relief, there are many blogs meaning it’s not unusual, also there are advices and solutions available.

  • keep water in a washbasin or make it not available somehow
  • Place a cat litter at close place as an alternative
  • Block a kitchen sink, somehow
  • Wait and see

We used to have more than five cats and I don’t recall anything like this happened back then.

After some research I found a successful example which is to place a litter box in a restroom. Also applied a cover to make it his private restroom.

Thinking about adopting a cat, and he came.

A photo on the top is Chobi about 12 months old.

Chobi today
Welcome Tiger~

UPDATE from here —- Today we went to pick him up, and until now mom enjoyed playing with him.

It’s been some decades since the last time we had kittens.

G-san got along with Tiger very quickly, and Chobi is still observing from distance away. Hope he’ll let his guard down.

The other day, my mother said she would love to have a kitten from a shelter if she has a chance.

We have two cats, one is G-san he is over 10 years old, and the other one Chobi he is 6 years old.

Our concern is Chobi likes to play, he is fast and strong.

He tries to play with G-san, G-san loves napping all the time except eating so ignores Chobi, and Chobi bites G-san, G-san screams, and we interrupt Chobi.

G-san is frozen with shock. We comfort him by stroking. It’s happening daily.

We talk to Chobi not to, but Chobi keeps doing the same.

G-san looks terrible every time after he is bitten.

That was early this month.

I started checking on the web, a shelter where we have found Chobi, other shelters, and a new place that is holding an even for cats adoption, only three stations away from home.

So I went there, see if there is any kitten we are able to adopt.

And there were five three months old kittens. I left my request for one of them, a boy who meowed me.

His name is a “Sandal”

I didn’t know a three months old cat is almost same size as a grown cat.

Once ago, one of our cats gave a birth to three kittens in the washroom. So we know how small a new born kitten is. It was really small, it was palm size.

we kept two of them and one cat was adopted by mom’s friend. They lived long with us.

Maybe, one day if we keep waiting there will be a day to have a chance for a new born kitten, however there are many a few months old kittens looking for a home so why do we have to wait.

I told mom and my older brother about “Sandal”. They are glad and welcoming.

We’ll hear from the shelter by next Thursday, they are checking our environment is secure and good for a kitten.

Unbelievably fast, it’s September already.

The world keeps spinning round.

Our cat is hardworking protect our house.

Grandma once told me, when you get older every day just fly away. Sun rises and sun goes down very quickly. Back then I was in my 30s, always busy, rushing around, not much time to think about it. Understand that now.

Cats napping all day and night, rarely stay sitting longer than minutes. walking but heading straight to a meal plate, or searching a place to sleep.

When stroking they look satisfied and happy, we are happy too.

On Tuesday

With a cat

He claws a door of the room I’m working daily. If I let him in he’ll lay down and maintain himself, and sleep.

I was working, he was relaxing

And this morning, my mom said she got fever last night. We both thought she got Covid.

I took her to a doctor, she was supposed to get a booster shot today, but got fever so we asked for PCR test instead.

fortunately it was negative.

We were waiting outside of the clinic in a heatwave produced by ambient temperature of 36 degrees. as a preventative measure patient who has fever is not allowed to enter the clinic.

At home, Chobi our cat was sleeping on the floor in the cool room.
